About ASCC
Autism Spectrum Connections Cymru (ASCC) is a dedicated service for autistic adults aged 16 and over. ASCC benefits from being part of Autism Initiatives Group of charities, which has successfully worked alongside autistic people for over fifty years.
We work alongside autistic people and their families to provide the safe space and tailored specialist support each individual needs to achieve their goals. Our range of support services include post diagnostic support, social groups, help with employment and making sure autistic people are claiming the right benefits.
We also provide specialist supported living services and a community support service for autistic adults in the Cardiff area.
Employment Support Services
This Welsh Government funded project delivers free to access employment support, helping people to gain and retain appropriate work. The funding is open to autistic adults aged 16+ across Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Monmouthshire, Newport, Torfaen and The Vale of Glamorgan.
Benefits Support Services
There are many benefits autistic people may be entitled to, but finding out what they are and then finding a way through the system can be difficult. ASCC has the knowledge and experience and can help you through the process so you can access the benefits, allowances and resources that help make life a little easier.
If you, or someone you know, needs help navigating the benefits system, or is unsure of what benefits are available for autistic people, please get in touch and ASCC’s friendly staff will be able to help you find your way through.
Independent Living Services
Our domiciliary supported living service enables autistic people to live life as independently as possible. Individuals can have their own homes alongside staff sleeping quarters, providing reassurance that onsite support is on hand should they need it around their tailored, funded support plans. Or, alternatively be supported to live separately away from supported living services.
Social Groups
Social groups at our 21 High Street centre in Cardiff provide a safe, supportive and accessible space for autistic people to meet, socialise and participate in activities they enjoy. Dungeons and Dragons team meets weekly and other opportunities include ‘Art Club’, ‘Board Game Club’ and more. All our activities are developed in consultation with those who access our services so we are keen to hear your recommendations for future groups.
Come and work with us!
We are currently looking for more great people to join our teams. At the same time as recruiting the best people to provide the very best support for autistic people, we will support you to achieve your career ambitions.
Transitional Support
As a young a person transitioning from school to college and from further and higher education to work can be overwhelming.
We’re here to help you navigate through the processes, understand and complete forms and prepare mentally for those next successful steps in your life.
This might include course applications, financial applications, reasonable adjustments and Disabled Students Allowance (DSA).
